You’ve seen the many movies about the fun tour guide showing the visitors around and probably thought, “What a fun job that must be.” Well, you’re absolutely right! 

For many years, people having enjoying the entertainment and cultural activities presented at a luau. Caribbean Luau Punta Cana is looking for a group of cast member ambassadors  to  join us in treating guests to discover the  Caribbean islands in one epic  location. From Cuba, to Jamaica, to Haiti ,Puerto Rico and our the Dominican Republic, the island host.

Caribbean Luau  gives visitors to the Dominican Republic the best experiences of the islands.  Every day, hundreds of people come to our paradise like venue, to discover through our islands villages  the culture of the main Caribbean islands. Sharing our island villages with fun cultural presentation of each island.  All this  extraordinary adventures are lead by our fun and expert ambassador cast member . 

You could be that expert cast member ambassador ! This position is an exciting and rewarding entry-level opportunity for candidates looking to start a career in the Travel or hospitality  industry. 

Cast members ambassadors are exposed to many different departments, gain valuable knowledge about our businesses, and are encouraged to leverage their experience to further their careers within Caribbean Luau.

What part will you play ?

Our ideal cast members ambassadors  have a passion for helping people and making their vacation experience a memorable one. A sincere love for travel, history, culture and the  spirit of Dominicanidad -genuine hospitality.

The cast members ambassadors major responsibility is to conduct guided tours each day for groups of around 50 guests . 

You will gather yours groups from the different hotels, and bring them to our luau venue. Them you will escort them though the island villages  Our island and other areas in the center until they seat foe dinner fallow by our world class Caribbean revue show. 

You clearly and professionally share the Caribbean Luau Script. Our  guests ask great questions so you’ll need to think on your feet to provide accurate answers to all of them.

You’ll work touring around the island villages with your group.   You’ll escort groups around sites, giving information about history, culture,legends,purpose, architecture or other points of interest. You usually spend most of your working  time on the move, and must work is  outdoors.

While not on tour at the venue, an ambassador will assist in taking phone-in reservations, assist with events management, special projects and other administrative duties.

The hospitality industry is a 365 Days industry. Due to the nature of our industry, ambassadors  are expected to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on the schedule. Work schedules and shifts may vary based on business demands.

Candidate Profile

Working as Caribbean Luau  Ambassador  in our means having the most beautiful destinations as your “office,” and the opportunity to share with our guests on once-in-a-lifetime experiences, every day. 

To be successful as ambassador at Caribbean Luau  you need to be well rounded, never satisfied with good enough, passionate about people, passionate about the outdoors, passionate about our islands and ready for every day to offer a new and exciting challenge. It also means long days, hard work, and constantly putting your customer service skills to the test.

What experience do you need to have?

We prefer you  have a 2-year college degree in a related field such as tourism’s & hospitality, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism and experience in a customer-service-oriented industry.

This is a speaking job so you having public speaking experience, even from college, is pretty important. It would be great if you had other experience with giving tours or in the travel/tourism industry, marketing, PR or social media experience but it’s not required. If you speak Italian, French, or Russian that is a plus!

Soft skills are important in this job!

The Ambassador is often the only close interaction that the visitors to The Dominican Republic  has with Caribbean Luau  so that first impression is important.  A successful ambassador is friendly and approachable, good under pressure and should always appear professional and polished. A uniform is provided to make sure you look sharp. We regularly host family with children’s and other special-needs groups so patience and understanding is important.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • be organize for our guest 
  • Manage 25 to 50 guests 
  • Inspect vehicles for cleanliness  before guest pick up 
  • Lead activities such as  walks or presentation during the luau 
  • Provide for the safety and health of a group
  • Work well with an entire team of guides, Dispatch and other cast members
  • Accurately and interestingly interpret the area you are touring for the guests
  • Accurate and timely reporting
Basic Qualifications
  • 21 years of age or older 
  • Legal to work in the Domincan Republic 
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Speak Fluent English or and Spanish 
  • Can communicate and interact professionally with a wide range of people
  • 1 year of customer service experience or group adventure travel
  • No physical barriers to conducting our tours including: Walk up to 2 miles a day, Carrying up to a 50lb 
  • Standing, sitting, and or walking for long hours
  • Willing to work long days
  • Patient and able to handle a variety of personalities
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Safety minded
  • CPR Certified preferred 
  • Must pass a physical test upon employment
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in the Travel Hospitality industry, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism or equivalent experience. Experience in lieu of degree may be considered.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

Professional work experience in the following areas:

  • Tour guide,Tour director, Hotel industry –
  • Professional work experience in any of the following activities:Hiking, Traveling and touring
  • Professional background in any of the following: music, entertainment,Geology,Ecology, Dominican History, StudiesSustainability
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to learn and memorize scripted tours, facts, figure, events and routes as assigned.
  • The ability to present information in an interesting way
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills for planning tours
  • Must be able to board and exit the minibus and assist patrons boarding and exiting minibus.
  • Shall be able to read, write and speak fluent English and or Spanish   in order to communicate with fellow team players, the general public.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds and tolerate a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Touring in a safe, competent manner an air-conditioned mini bus or and our venue while entertaining guests by narrating a scripted Caribbean luau presentation for approximately 1 to 2 hours in duration
Hiring Process

Qualified applicants will be invited to an in person group interview consisting of a full day at Caribbean Luau venue   to experience our venue with managers and senior staff members. The purpose of this event will be to get to know you and your personality better before making any final decisions. Official offer letters will go out after the event and training will begin .

September Wednesday 18, 2018 at 10 am and 2 pm 

September  Friday  21,  2018 at 10 am and  2 pm 

September Sunday  22, 2018 at 10 am 

Position Commitment:

Part time & Full time one year commitment.

Competitive Compensation

Starter: $20,000 per month plus  tips, Experienced: $25000, Highly Experienced: $35,000
